U.N.C.L.E’s testimonial Match

Date: 11 Feb Time: Late morning
Biao Shu asking if Raphael is free to play football on Thursday, he’s arranging a testimonial match for U.N.C.L.E. Apparently there wasn’t any pitch available, and to cut the story short, it was changed to Wednesday night, 10pm to 12am.

Date: 12 Feb Time: Late afternoon
U.N.C.L.E bumped into me at 3rd floor, and asked if I going for his testimonial. I told him probably, he said I should go, as it’s for the last time. Err… U.N.C.L.E so your last time playing at cage, and also my last blog is it?

Date: 13 Feb Time: Evening
I was still contemplating whether I should go for U.N.C.L.E’s testimonial match, and my dad said just go and enjoy yourself. Watching football will take your mind off other stuff for a while. So here I am, as the boys prepared for KO.

It was the Red team versus the White as the boys turned up in these colours. Simon, Wenchong, Rongming and Weiming belong to the Red, while Raphael, Alvin, Biao Shu and U.N.C.L.E is White.

With only four-a-side, and the pitch booked for two hours, it was a pretty slow start and U.N.C.L.E even has noticed that there wasn’t music from the PA system as he shouted “ Oi! MUSIC!!!” The music came on right on cue, though the music was intermittent throughout the two hours.

Raphael soon opened the account for the first goal, though Wenchong equalised on a one-on-one situation against U.N.C.L.E . Remesh said U.N.C.L.E should have come out and covered his angle. Biao Shu then took the White team to 2-1, but Rongming made it 2-2 in a flash, and put the Red team ahead as Alvin took over as keeper.

Wenchong tries from long distance, bringing the score to 4-2. As Remesh took to the pitch, he announced that they can’t anyhow tackle him. He’s injured. Yes, Boss!
Giving his all for his testimonial, U.N.C.L.E scored his first goal with his “sweet” left foot to reduce the goal deficit. Not long after, Biao Shu had the ball, and Raphael shouted “Try!” Biao Shu did and it was 4-all. Game on!

Rongming brought the Reds ahead once again with a simple tap-in, and Wenchong extended their lead to 6-4. The next piece of action saw U.N.C.L.E lying on the ground and Biao Shu asked, “Punctured huh? Babe!”

Before I knew it, the score went up to 7-4 and then 8-4. Down, but not out, U.N.C.L.E scored a good goal and started the Whites comeback. Raphael bagged two in the next minute and Biao Shu commented that he’s on a scoring spree as he brought his team back on levelled terms. Up next, Alvin had the time and space to pick his spot to bring the Whites ahead at 9-8, and Raphael completed his hat-trick, bring the score to a double digit 10-8.

The Whites then pulled ahead with Remesh, who would not miss, with the goal-mouth gapping. But Rongming managed to capitalise on U.N.C.L.E’s bad back pass for 11-9, and then made it 11-10. Simon then brought the Reds back into the game with a looping ball over U.N.C.L.E.

The Reds pulled ahead with Rongming, but Raphael was there with the equaliser moments later. This scoring spree didn’t stop and he had the time to pause and pick his spot before he took the score to 13-12. Suddenly, Alvin shouted to Raphael, wanting him to pass the ball to Remesh. Whether is it shock or surprise, he mis-cued the pass and Remesh missed a golden opportunity to score.

Chao joined the Reds for five-a-side and U.N.C.L.E said now he can focus. Weiming queried him, does that meant he hasn’t been focusing during the entire first-half? Oi! Your testimonial match leh!!

U.N.C.L.E SCORED AN OWN GOAL FOR 13-13! The ball slipped from his hands and into goal. You really have to hog the limelight tonight? But lucky for U.N.C.L.E, Raphael’s scoring spree hasn’t ended and soon the Whites went ahead once more.
Remesh extended their lead and he picked the correct spot to score against Weiming. Biaoshu then sent the ball home through Weiming’s legs. Then Biao Shu turned with the ball that had both Remesh and Alvin shouting “Nice turn!”

Rongming fired home two goals in a row and Remesh started giving instructions to U.N.C.L.E on how to defend and everybody forgot to go back and defend, and Alvin sent SOS signals. Then Biao Shu took his place between the sticks, and shouted “All belakang!” Then U.N.C.L.E probably brought the scoreline to 17-15 (or was it Raphael?) and Alvin then setup Raphael nicely as he bagged another right on cue as Remesh shouted “18-15!” Soon, Alvin scored for 19-15, Biao Shu remarked that his goal was “tucked away”.

With the ball at his feet, Remesh instructed Raphael to “take your time for 20!”, which he did, and soon conjured up another for 21-15. U.N.C.L.E wasn’t the only one with the own goal tonight. Simon was unfortunate enough to be at the wrong place, at the wrong time to send home an own-goal.

Wenchong then made it 22-16, and Bryan Wong arrived at the cage with 25 minutes remaining. His entrance triggered Weiming to pose the question “Who ordered the Bulldozer?”

Before I knew what was happening, U.N.C.L.E announced the score at 25-17. But on my notes it was 23-16. Why like that? But since this is your testimonial game, you win lor. I follow you!

Mr. Testimonial Match then made it 28-16 and Raphael for 29-16. But the highlight of the night was Mr. Testimonial Match awarding Biao Shu with the Man-of-the-Match award, which are words from his heart “Iggy! I love you deep deep!”. As he scored for 30-16, I realised U.N.C.L.E have never been more accurate in his shooting!!

Then U.N.C.L.E announced it was 30-18. Err… Am I at the same game as you guys?

Rongming scored the next two goals, and holding on to the ball, Raphael shouted to all, “Hold the ball! We got ten goals for them! Play short!” (At this point of time, the Whites had four players, Reds with five)

At 30-23, U.N.C.L.E shouted “Fu Ying! See the time!” I shouted one minute! At “Time’s Up!”, the boys trotted out, all punctured from the two hours of football. Biao Shu mentioned that he felt like they played for more than two hours. I told him, I felt the same too.

Thanks U.N.C.L.E for all the good times, this is YOUR testimonial match. I hoped YOU enjoyed it! Since you said this is my last review, does this mean it’s my testimonial match too? I no need to blog for you guys already is it?
