One Hot Summer Night

It has been a long summer, and temperatures are soaring higher by the days. BUT the heat will NEVER prevail over football fever! Yes, we are back to The Cage, and this time the boys are prepared. Perhaps, a little more than prepared. More turned up, ready to take on one another, in a football game where there are no throw-ins, no goal-kicks, no corners and only constant running.

Refused to be cured from the raging World Cup fever? No sweat! The Cage has a huge screen placed outside, and the boys can certainly pick up a trick or two while their kick-off awaits.

For one who can never have enough of football, I ventured once again "into" The Cage. Laughing with kakis over fallen hero (you know who you are), it was amazing how an outing like this can bring together so many of us.

For some who took to the field, it became a family outing for them. Others brought girlfriends and friends. Of course, there are those who just wanted to have fun, and some felt the need to just work their socks off.

With this regular playing cum outing, some of the boys forged a bond between them. Others claimed (maybe it's true) that their skills improved. For the eagle-eye who was observing, there were certainly more deft touches, and smart moves. As for those nifty foot work and those quick turns, next time perhaps. I was just a tiny bit distracted by what’s going on on the big screen, and it certainly didn’t help if mobs formed wherever the ball goes.

But Lo and Behold! This is not just the end of The Cage! Boys! Give us more slick moves PLEASE! The World Cup is here for you to learn!

Had to deliver episode 10 of Showdown for Alvin, so Showdown Delivery Service made a trip to Grande Vista during the boys' almost weekly game there. Turned out to be the opening ceremony of my new toy. "Ronaldino" was there to play. But he was wearing the wrong jersey. For the record, he said he hasn't put on "the BIGGER" one when we were talking about his hairband. At one point, when he was standing behind the goalpost, there was lacking a player in the arena. Bidding Farewell...

… to 2007, so I thought why not have a game at JBS when Cynthia suggested that Ross played with the Stunners for the last time this year, against the Media I contacted Ben and the stage was set for 28 Nov. But it wasn’t as smooth as it turned out to be. Ben, the team manger for the FAS Stunners called and asked if the match can be postpone to January as they could not get enough people. With the Boys all revved up and ready to go, Ben promised he will try and gather his troops. Raphael and I came out with a list of 20 people from the start. The list quickly became 16 and on the day itself, we only had 14 and only 12 turned up. At about 2pm in the afternoon, Mark sms me saying that match will be cancel as the weather is not looking good. The most colourful colour commentator

After a LONG drive to Deptford field, we arrived to see players donning red tops already doing their warm-ups on the pitch. What caught me unaware was that I was to become blood donors to the food depleted mosquitoes there. The heavy downpour prior to KO did nothing to dampen Peter’s mood. He even brought along the “chest” of tops we bought in Korat. Those who turned up without red tops were handed one each, and our regulars took theirs at long last.
