My Charity Shield
This morning, I was reminded that the Charity Shield is on this Sunday, and I realised that my last blog for the Cage was in February. So before my “nightmare” starts, I thought, maybe I should make this match my own Charity Shield.
Arriving about twenty minutes after KO, the first piece of action I witnessed was a finger-tip save from U.N.C.L.E at the far-end, just before the hour mark, and he was playing with a heavily strapped knee.
Then, my eyes went searching for Biao Shu Shu. A little bird told me that his skills have very much improved since I last saw. The next thing I knew was, someone was shouting out 3-1. Then I realised that Biao Shu was playing keeper, with his back facing me. Couldn’t recognise him with his new hair-cut. Nice boots!
Raphael was keeping goal at the other end, and he came all the way up to try his luck against Biao Shu, which nearly resulted an open goal at the other end.
Just after the hour mark, Chin tried his luck next against Biao Shu, making it 4-1. Still on Biao Shu, he was on the ground when Rongming scored for 4-2. Just as I was writing all these down, Biao Shu has swopped with Chin to become an outfield player and he was no longer wearing the gloves. How did he loose those gloves so fast? But his first piece was action was being tackled off the ball by Remesh. Hahaha!
Chin then conceded a goal for 4-3 in the 38th minute, and U.N.C.L.E sent home a stunner for 4-all. But comedy took centre-stage when Remesh and Bryan collided in the middle of the park with some “ouchs” and “ohhs”.
With Raphael coming out of his line more often than not, Chin tried to chip him in the 44th minute, but this keeper was equal to the task. Next to challenge this keeper was Biao Shu, who failed to find the target despite the gapping goal. Byran too, tried his luck, but failed.
At the near end, Ian managed to clear a brilliant try from Johnni while Chin’s effort hit the upright in the 46th minute. Two minutes later, Alvin made it 5-4 with Raphael back-peddling.
Then I heard Alvin calling “uncle”. I thought they were in opposite teams? Was Alvin up to no good again? Still on U.N.C.L.E, his failure to even take a shot at goal had Remesh shouting at him, and this Manchester United fan showed U.N.C.L.E how it was done by forcing Ian into a full-stretch save in the 56th minute.
The next thing I knew, Chin and Byran combined to make the score 5-7, and the latter sent one more past Biao Shu moments later. Up next, was the joint effort of Rongming and Peter for the equaliser. Was Biao Shu the Leaky Cauldron? But as this thought flashed across, Biao Shu made a brilliant save.
Just before half-time, Remesh smashed home his own rebound for 8-9, and he commented that Rongming was a one-men team.
Right after KO, Raphael? made it 8-10. But when Peter volleyed home, someone shouted 13-12. Hey! What did I missed? And then it was 14-12 at the far-end.
At the near end, just a lapse in concentration from Raphael and a ball came flying, hitting on the upright. Alvin pounced on the rebound, but the keeper managed to keep the ball out. After Biao Shu tapped home for 14-13 and then as the ball slipped out of his hands, Raphael scored an own-goal.
Forced to a corner, Alvin was searching for a teammate to pass the ball when Biao Shu called “Babe!”. Though I can’t see them, I knew it was Alvin as Biao Shu could not be calling someone else Babe.
Byran again “collided” with Remesh, and he actually shouted sorry before “kissing” Remesh’s foot. Or did he? Hahaha!
With another goal being conceded by Raphael, I think you guys better find another keeper on the 25th August – that is if you guys are playing. Then Alvin and Biao Shu made it 16-14, after Raphael had once again come off his line. See? He cannot be keeper lah! The next bit of action exposed this defence weakness. Some fancy footwork by him, and Biao Shu was left with a simple job of tapping the ball home for 18-14.
With ten minutes remaining, two consecutive goals from Peter made the scoreline 19-18, and U.N.C.L.E can be heard shouting his all too-familiar line “one more for draw!”
As an outfield player, Raphael and Peter set up Rongming brilliantly for the equaliser. Then a precise pass from Raphael to Remesh put their side ahead. Though U.N.C.L.E managed to clear Alvin’s effort, Chin did enough to send home the equaliser before the “final whistle”.
